Other Gods: Baal

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me,

Exodus 20:3-6

9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.

Ecclesiastes 1:9-10

There is truly nothing new under the sun and idols, though they may seem unrecognizable in some of their modern forms, can be traced back entirely to the same idols and gods of old. The Bible has much to say about this and gives us the eyes to see them for what they are, no matter what form they take.

Let’s take a look at Baal, the false god of the Canaanites and the Phoenicians. The name Baal means lord, husband and master. He was considered the deity of the storm (the rain, lightning, and wind) as well as being known by the moniker “rider of the clouds”. He was also considered to be the god of fertility and agriculture. He can be seen depicted as a warrior god with a lightning bolt (think Zeus) and/or surrounded by bulls or depicted as a bull. He’s also seen characterized as human or as a human with a bull head. As an offering, his worshipers engaged in sexual acts (man to man or man to woman) or child sacrifice.

The “family tree” of Baal (above). Depending on the source, his “father” is either credited as the god, El or as the god, Dagon.

His famous rivals which he’s said to have defeated are Yam, the god of the sea, and Mot, the god of the underworld/death. Sounds a lot like Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades of Greek mythology and Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto of Roman mythology.

Popular depictions of god-like characters with the lightning symbolism (above).

How can you spot references to Baal when the names or the symbolism aren’t openly presented? Look at the attributes. In music, the term Rain Man has become synonymous with Baal for instance. How can that be proven? Look at the fruit, look at what it represents and once the Most High gives you understanding on the matter and the eyes to see references to Baal, rather by the name Rain Man or another name, be willing to leave those things behind.

Baal worship has been repackaged all over the world. Here’s just a few examples:

The 2022 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony was a blatant display of Baal worship broadcast to over 72 nations. It was a reflection of Revelations 17:3-5. Among the depiction of a woman riding a beast with the colors scarlet and purple in the background, was more symbolism including a giant hooded figure standing over children in hospital beds and people laying on the ground in front of a pyramid. The world is no longer hiding who it serves.

The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris had plenty of satanic symbolism throughout including none other than a golden bull itself, a pale horse and of course the blasphemous rendition of the last supper.

The Charging Bull

There’s examples of Baal worship that you may have never noticed like the Charging Bull of Wall Street. The 11 foot tall, 7000+ lb bronze statue was installed by an artist as an uncomissioned stunt outside the New York Stock Exchange after the 1987 stock market crash. It then became a tourist attraction spawning traditions like the fondling of it’s testicles for good luck. Another cloaked nod to the god it represents.

The Temple of Baal Gateway

Here’s one that you may not have heard about. Did you know that a replica of the gateway to the Temple of Baal has been, in essence, on a world tour visiting prominent places like London all the way to New York? The replica, also known as the Triumphal Arch of Palmyra (a name that it was heavily marketed under after push back to the overt name, Temple of Baal) was temporarily erected in New York in 2016 as part of it’s strange tour.

And then there were the Balenciaga ads of just a few years ago which sparked outrage for their inappropriate child centered nature. The most telling part of the ads…the yellow caution tape with the words Baalenciaga written on it. A coincidence? No, of course not.

1 Hear the word that the Lord speaks to you, O house of Israel.

2 Thus says the Lord:

“Learn not the way of the nations,

nor be dismayed at the signs of the heavens

because the nations are dismayed at them,

3 for the customs of the peoples are vanity.

Jeremiah 10:1-3 ESV

As stated before, scripture has plenty to say about Baal worship and plenty of warnings to stay away from idols and idolatry. Let’s let the Word of the Most High speak for itself:

1 And God spake all these words, saying,

2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

13 Thou shalt not kill.

14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 Thou shalt not steal.

16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Exodus 20:1-17

I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols.

Isaiah 42:8 ESV

(for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God),

Exodus 34:14 ESV

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.

19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.

20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,[a] in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools,

23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,

25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;

27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.

29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,

30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,

31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.

32 Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Romans 1:18-32 ESV

Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.”

1 Corinthians 10:7 ESV

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21 ESV

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 ESV

We’re in the last days. The last of the last days and the Most High is cleaning house and calling us to do the same. Will you heed his Word?

9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—

10 not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.

11 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one.

12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge?

13 God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”

1 Corinthians 5:9-13

1 Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh,[a] arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

2 so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.

3 For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry.

4 With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you;

5 but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

6 For this is why the gospel was preached even to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh the way people are, they might live in the spirit the way God does.

1 Peter 4:1-6 ESV

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.

Revelation 21:8 ESV

2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
